Thank you CPH, and see you later...

Well, if the last post was called bittersweet then I was not prepared for last night. On Friday, Mom and I met up (after a little mishap with a broken metro) and ate at Wagamama's. Then we went to the Jewish Museum which is hidden in a little corner of the Black Diamond (The Royal Library). It was quite tiny. Then I took her to Christiania. We stayed for a little and both got cool bracelets by a street vendor.  Then we went back to the Nyhavn area for a little before going home to pack me up. For dinner, we ate at a delicious restaurant called Tight. I had heard of it before and was excited to try it. What an amazing last meal. The burger, their specialty, was amazing.

After dinner I went home and got ready for my last night out in Copenhagen with all my friends (who were left there). At 12am it was going to be Danna's 21st birthday! We pregamed in the common room for a very long time and brought her cupcakes to celebrate her birthday. We finally went out at about 12:15 and went to LA Bar for our last night. We danced a lot, but at around 2am when all of us wanted to go, originally just Jenny and Pekka, we burst into tears on the dance floor. It was comical really, to see 4 girls crying on stage at a club. It was just so sad to say goodbye. I had to wake up at 5am so 2 hour was my goal, and I couldn't stay any longer.

This summer was truly incredible. I met people who changed my perspectives on so many things. I realized what a small part of the world I have experienced, and how little I knew about issues and people outside of my little bubble. I am so glad that I was able to meet people and experience things that opened my eyes to the world. I am so fortunate to have been able to do this, and I will never, ever forget one bit of it - thanks to this blog, especially. I hope more than anything that I see all my friends from Europe and other countries again, and I know that I will see the girls from America again. I hope every person from CBS that reads this knows how you individually changed my life.  I LOVE YOU

And I now I begin another journey, in Italy.

Thank you so much, Copenhagen.

Bittersweet...

Tuesday night we had a nice little rooftop party. The roof outside my window is a perfect place for hanging out, studying, eating, and pregaming! Someone made pasta and there was a big pasta dinner on the roof. Someone else played the guitar, and we hung out and drank. Then we got ready and, attempting not to fall in my heels, I hung out a little more on the roof. When we finally went out we went to Billy Booze, a fun dance club/bar/discount bar! Unfortunately no one was dancing... until we got there. We were a group of (literally) 30+ people! It was SO fun! So many dance-offs. By the time we went on the dance floor it looked packed, just because there were so many of us!

"Probably"
On Wednesday I woke up and studied on the roof. Then I went to see Mom at her hotel!!! She brought me everything bagels from Bagels and More!!! BME!!! (Best Mom Ever, quote from Shira Sandler). After my long and painful (literally, hand cramps) test, I went to meet up with Mom. We ate some bread and cheese at a yummy restaurant in Nyhavn. It was soo pretty. Then we met up with Jenny and Morgan and had dinner at Mama Rosa! Obviously we got crepes after. None of us were planning on going out, but when I got back from Mom's hotel at 10:30, I checked Olgert's room next door and decided to spontaneously go out with them. I was the only American with them! It was a crazy night and it was so fun to be with all Europeans!!!! We went to the Meat Packing District and danced for hours.

Yesterday I woke up at 8:30am (AH!) and Jenny and Erik came over for some bagels! Erik had never had an everything bagel, nevertheless a bagel from NY, so I was happy to give him such a wonderful experience. After breakfast I met up with Mom and we went to the Frederiksberg Castle. It was soo pretty and we walked around inside a little. By the time we got to the 50th room we were ready for lunch. Mom had traditional Danish meatballs, something I've never even had! Then we walked around the gorgeous gardens. When we got back from the hour commute to the castle (in Hillerod) we went on a canal tour. I went on one in the beginning but it was too loud to hear what the woman was saying! This time I paid attention. It was really nice and it was beautiful outside so that made it even better.

After the canal tour I took Mom to the park next to my dorm that we always picnic in. We walked around the whole thing and kept comparing it to Central Park. Then we made our way to dinner in Nyhavn.

Last night was the "Goodbye Party." Needless to say, it was extremely bittersweet. We pregamed in the common room which was really fun. All of our friends came, including the Valby kids. Then we made our way to the club which was really far away. At first it wasn't fun and I really wanted to leave. Besides for the 2-for-1 cocktails/shots (awesome) it was pretty lame. Then all of a sudden it got CRAZY. Everyone started dancing on tables, couches, benches, everything! Also people danced on the floor... haha. It was so much fun - even though it was ridiculously hot. We danced on the tables and couches with everyone else and enjoyed our last night all together. When Laura left it got really sad. Jenny hysterically cried, standard. At about 3 we decided to go home so we'd be alive today. It was a TREK to get home, especially in high heels!

Today I woke up and have been packing (SO SAD) for a couple of hours. Should be interesting getting all of this to Rome, Venice, and home! Now I am off to meet Mom for my last day of tourism!

Rooftop Parties and Last Biking Adventure

On Sunday, some friends and I attempted to study in the park but instead kind of just hung out for a little until it rained. Sunday night we stayed in because people have tests but I found it hard to be motivated to study :)

On Monday I went to the beach with Sarah and two people who are visiting here. It was our last beach day and it was GORGEOUS out, as it often is here! Copenhagen is so beautiful and fun when it is nice out. It's a bit of a bummer when it rains...but we have avoided a lot of that! We spent a few hours lying on the beach, I shut my eyes and listened to music for a little, put my feet in the freezing cold water, and talked to the other girls. We also got some hotdogs and slushies to hold us over until dinner!

When I came home, Danna and I went onto my roof to study and eat dinner. We brought all of our materials out there but, naturally, there is just so much OTHER great stuff going on here! Sitting on the roof we found ourselves a little distracted, and then it was hopeless when other people started coming outside to hang out. Olgert popped his head out of his room and laughed at us because we were not even studying a little bit. Then he told us to come into his room because he and his Italian friends had cooked some authentic Spaghetti Bolognese! It was sooooo good. After a few obvious hints, a couple girls came in with a cake and candles for Marianne's birthday. It was really nice because she has a test today and can't celebrate until tonight. There were 20 people in Olgert's room and we all had cake and ice cream! Then, after I retreated back to my study area on the roof, they started singing their own self-made kareoke. How could I resist?!?! Danna and I officially gave up and joined in on the singing party. It was so much fun and it reminded me that these fun-filled, care-free nights are almost over. I got a little sad but also enjoyed the company of 20 screaming/singing people with 10 different accents and very little musical talent (sorry!).

Today, I woke up EARLY! I studied for a couple of hours and then biked with Danna all around Copenhagen. It was my last day with my bike so we took advantage! We went back to Norrebro, then to Norreport, then to Strøget street, and then eventually met up with Jenny and Laura. We went to Christiania for some last minute gift/jewelry shopping, and then I went on my journey to return my bike. I thought it would be easy because, even though it was a good 20-25 minute bike, it was all along one street mostly. That would be easy of course if I hadn't gone in the wrong direction from the start. So what was meant to be a 25 minute bike ride turned into over an hour of confusion. BUT I made it with 3 minutes to spare before the bike place closed. My first and last true biking mishap. I did get to see some beautiful parts of Copenhagen (and some not so beautiful parts) that I had never seen before!

Now that I am back I am going to finish studying for a little and then go out tonight :) This isn't like Ross...I am going out the night before a final, cool!
