After a long trek to Dyrehaven, it turned out to be totally worth it. We ate our delicious picnic in a beautiful green park next to a gorgeous beach with soft sand (the other beach we've been going to has rocky sand so this was a treat). Taryn had a playlist on her iPod called "Ultimate Dance Party 1996." It truly was the ultimate dance party, filled with Ace of Bace and other classic songs. After we got sick of pump up music we listened to a European on our program playing his guitar and singing beautiful songs. It was really nice. Morgan, Danna and I took a really nice walk down the beach and found some very friendly strangers who wanted to take pictures for us!
Before we left, we decided we had to go to Bakken, which is a 5 minute walk from the park. It is the oldest amusement park in the WORLD! It is older than America...embarrassing! It was really cool and felt like a really "family fun" type of place. There is another amusement park here called Tivoli that is the more "adventure" type of amusement park. I still have not been there but am SO anxious to go.
Motto of my life!
Spontaneous group shot on my camera! This is only a small portion of all the people on my program!
Right when we got back from Dyrehaven, Kelly and some other people asked me if I wanted to join them to a free reggae show in Christiania. I spontaneously went right away and it was really fun. We saw some Reggae, I got my favorite food ever (the chicken Shawarma) and also watched a really funny folk band.
Kelly insisted on going on the sea-saw and it was actually really funny
This is a sort of waterfall outside of our school that we pass everyday. None of us had ever been under it, you walk behind the water and only your feet get wet. It's really cool! I'm not sure why it's there...
On Monday I slept in late and met Jenny at the Magasin Mall for some shopping. I got my first Top Shop purchase since I've been here! A really cute, 50% off shirt. After that I relaxed a little for the first time in a while (I know, my whole life here is relaxing, but I mean really, sitting on my bed and doing nothing). At around 6 I went to dinner with Morgan to this delicious restaurant where we split (friends and family - I found someone else who loves to split WOOHOO) pizza and a cheeseburger. It was less than $10 each and it was SO GOOD!
At night we went to another dorm to hang out a little, and then I ended up going out with some people I don't know very well - a few Mexicans, Italians, Brazilians and Americans. I am so glad I did that because I had such a good time with new people and hanging out at a bar.
I like this because it says "skal!"
The pub we went to last night and on 4th of July - named after NYC, funny!
Today, Tuesday, I woke up and went to the park with Sarah and Danna. We played cards and listened to music. It was very pleasant. Then I went to class (boooring) and now I am about to go watch Harry Potter (the first part of whatever is coming out) because in Denmark we get to see Harry Potter 2 days before USA. Booooya. So yeah, I don't really care/know anything/read/watch about HP but I figured I'd go since a few of my friends are really enthused about it.
Amsterdam Countdown: 2 days!
xo,
JOJ
